Unfortunately our guest photographer Lee McKinney couldn’t be with us this evening due to an illness. So instead the club had a very interesting and informative discussion on how to take Portraits. Thanks to everyone who attended and made our last club meeting before the Christmas holidays so enjoyable. It was lovely to see a good turnout.
Thanks to Yvonne O'Brien and Heather Boyd for our group photos. Hope you all have a very merry Christmas and Santa leaves a photographic gift under the tree for you.

A huge thanks to Treasa G Frazer & Mary Doherty from Starlight Workshop for a great Astro Photography session last night. The evening started with some examples of their work and this followed with some great tips from both.
We headed off to Gartan OEC, a late minute change, and spent a worderful few hours shooting the stars at Gartan lakeside. The weather stayed reasonably clear so the large group of members had plenty of opportunity to practice shooting the stars.

If any members wish to share their work from last night, post them in an album on your own FB page and share the link here. Thanks

This may be of interest to nature lovers...Thanks to Aidan Cunninghamfor sharing this.Did you know that the village of Burnfoot (Bun na hAbhann - The mouth of the river) was once on the shores of Lough Swilly? Have you witnessed hundreds of geese and swans flying overhead as they leave their roost at Inch Wildfowl Reserve in the morning? Would you like to know more about this important site and welcome back the winter migrant birds to Donegal?

A series of talks and walks are being held during the month of November at Inch Wildfowl Reserve. Please make a note in your diary and we look forward to seeing you there!

The club's first guest photographer of the club year was a very popular choice. A large turnout was there to see Brendan Diver a photographer based in Clonmany, Inishowen, cover a wide range of very interesting topics. He displayed his very fine work ranging from Children to Fashion photography. Brendan is best known for his Northern Lights photography. His photos from the beach in Ballyliffin have deservedly found attention world wide. Brendan also gave us a great insight into the very succesful photo workshops he runs in Inishowen, including with the world famous Russian photographer Elena Shumilova, when she came to Donegal to do her first ever workshop outside of Moscow.
It was a very enjoyable evening overall. You can find out more about Brendan and his work on his site www.photosfromireland.com

For all you Canon lovers...thanks to Lukasz Bulcewicz for sharing. We're looking for a new cover photo to settle us in to the colder months, and we'd love to feature yours...

Comment below with your favourite autumnal scene taken on one of our cameras (tell us which when you post) and our favourite will be sitting pretty as our cover photo until the end of November. Hint: The photo will need to be a landscape image with an envelope style crop, so our winner will be the photo that's best suited to sit proudly above the Canon logo. Go!
